The new Apple operating system has been installed on 50% of capable handsets already. However the update has a little secret that will favour your mobile provider, and cost you along the way.
The feature in question is WiFi Assist, and it allows your phone to access your 3G or 4G in order to ‘top up’ low bandwidth speeds while on WiFi. It can be useful if your WiFi is slow, but while abroad or on a limited tariff you may be using your network rather than the WiFi network.
To turn the feature off just go to
Settings > Mobile Data and scroll to the WiFi Assist ( swipe to turn off ).
